Betboom Dacha will host a $1 million prize pool tournament in Dubai, UAE, in February, adding to the number of challengers in Dota 2 for the upcoming year.

Dota 2 fans will surprisingly enjoy another competition just after the break for the players during the festive period. BetBoom has kept the new MENA qualifiers for the emerging region while also merging underperforming regions—NA-SA and SEA-CN—together.

However, it remains unknown why they have done that. Nevertheless, it’s a sensible decision to merge NA and SA, especially with regard to their latest results, although China’s case slightly differs.

The Great Shuffle of China saw Dota 2 legends from the East change their fortunes and trajectory after a disastrous start. There were better performances in TI 2023, and the Chinese Dota 2 region took home the ESL One Kuala Lumpur trophy earlier this December as Azure Ray reverse swooped on Gaimin Gladiators in the grand finals.

The grand finale of ESL One Kuala Lumpur showcased Azure Ray destroying Gaimin Gladiators with a reverse sweep despite the former’s roster being heavily criticized by competitors in Dota 2 requesting a DQ from ESL One Kuala Lumpur after three players were changed by the roster after TI 2023.

However, Valve’s absence from the competitive scene also saw the rulebooks change without AR receiving any penalties.

Meanwhile, the merger of regions may not give fans the opportunity to see SA or SEA teams at BetBoom Dacha Dubai. The available slots meant for the qualifiers will determine that the dominating pairs of the mergers might eliminate any chances of surprises if there are one or two caps, as often happens.

The open qualifiers for BetBoom Dacha Dubai will begin on January 3, 2024, which will then be followed by closed qualifiers which will decide the final participants in the event.

Team Spirit, Gaimin Gladiators, BetBoom Team, LGD Gaming, and Aurora have been handed direct invites to the event, with one more invitation slot remaining.
