Nigma Galaxy’s Dota 2 roster is probably the most rocky roster in all of esports at the moment, with various ins and outs in the last week. After some big-name announced their exits from the roster, the team captain was quick to rebuild as they welcomed SumaiL back to its roster.

SumaiL is returning for a second stint at the organization. He first joined Nigma in May 2022 and left in the spring of 2023 to join Team Aster. He had an eye-opening experience in Dota 2’s Berlin Major.

The veteran mid-laner moved to the east and enjoyed a good start there, but he eventually missed his second-straight Dota 2 TI after a shocking elimination in the Chinese qualifiers.

In November 2023, his contract with Aster came to an end, but a return to Nigma was not the original plan at that point MinD_ContRoL’s exit when the legendary Dota 2 roster started a major reshuffle, changed a lot of things.

MinD_ContRoL didn’t leave Nigma solo, as the likes of Mikey, Yuma, and even GH followed him through the exit, with only KuroKy left on the roster.

Despite Nigma’s global success and rich track record, they have been finding it difficult of late to get the most promising esports talents to sign up on their roster.

The MENA region is getting a revival, especially after ESL’s arrival to the Dota 2 competitive scene, although there are only a handful of teams competing there right now.

Valve has moved away from the Dota 2 competitive scene thus allowing some relaxation in the rules for the season with teams able to do more roster shuffling. Meanwhile, Nigma has what it takes to become a MENA powerhouse, although it’s not going to be straightforward going into 2024.

Nigma will need to get its roster ready before DreamLeague Season 22 in preparation for the Riyadh Masters 2024 in the summer.
