Star top laner, Nuguri, hopes that the European first seed makes it to the next round of the ongoing League of Legend world championship.
DAMWON Gaming lost to G2 Esports at last year’s edition of the League of Legends World Championship. To Nuguri, the loss stung more than some people thought.
The young star has returned with the Korean powerhouse to the big stage. Therefore, he is hoping that the kings of Europe can make it to this year’s semifinals.
Speaking during Riot Games’ post-game press conference on Thursday, Nguru personally wants to face G2 to get his revenge. The top laner added that he wants to meet G2 more than Gen.G.
Although they are yet to secure the knockout stage ticket, Nuguri is unsure what to expect as par the final result.
Sharing the same sentiment is the team’s head coach Zefa. While stating that Gen.G beating G2 would be ideal, it would guarantee an LCK representative in Worlds 2020.
However, he prefers to face G2. The team wants a retaliation for last year’s 3-1 loss in the quarter-finals.
Having entered the Worlds last year without much international experience, DWG got some good playtime in the play-in stage and performed well during the group stage, having a 5-1 record.
In their quarter-finals, they were matched up with G2’s veteran lineup. G2 wasted no time by quickly dispatching them in four games.
Since then, DWG has improved their level of play significantly. This is all down to their teamwork and individual skill, which have improved.
They have lost only losing two games during the 2020 Summer Split and also dominated the playoffs. They are the current champions of the LCK championship.
So far, they have recorded just one loss in the Worlds 2020 group stage, which came against China’s JD Gaming.
After sweeping past DRX yesterday in the quarterfinals of the Worlds 2020, they are looking forward to their semifinals opponent.
