Ninjas in Pyjamas has been sent packing from the IEM Katowice after losing 2-0 to Natus Vincere in the tournament Group A lower bracket semifinal.
Before being ousted after three series, NiP had been defeated by Vitality before renewing their chance by eliminating Cloud9.
Na’Vi, however, needs one more win in the elimination series to get the ticket to the IEM Katowice quarterfinals.
The way to defeat NiP started when it was decimated by Na’Vi on the first map of the series, Mirage. The Russians dominated the Ninjas’ map pick from the beginning and won 16-3 with s1mple’s giving out his best performance of 2020 so far, finishing with 26 kills, with six deaths, and a rare 2.07 rating.
Not affected by the heavy defeat, the Swedish squad played much better. Ilya “Perfecto” Zalutskyi and flamie, however, won a few rounds for Na’Vi, helping the team to claim 16-10 win with the duo registering 48 kills.
Looking at their performance so far, the new roster of NiP looks like a squad that has the potential to improve. As they continue to be a work-in-progress team, they might not be able to stand against the best teams yet. All that is required to get to that level is constant practice and play better collectively to help their newly-acquired Tim “nawwk” Jonasson, adapt to the team.
Provided s1mple maintains the level of performance; Na’Vi has the chance of reaching the playoffs at IEM Katowice.
Perfecto, who recently joined the team, is also on a good run and has been one of the best competitors at the tournament. This shows that he has settled well into the team.
Meanwhile, a shocking win has been recorded by G2 Esports against mousesports to win the series 2-1 in IEM Katowice’s Group A upper bracket semi-final.
The French CS: GO team returned to winning ways after losing Dust II, their own map pick, and qualified for the IEM Katowice playoffs with a reverse sweep.
Next on their schedule is to either face Team Liquid or Evil Geniuses today to determine who advances directly to the semifinals.
