Korean esport DRX failed to win the inaugural edition of the VCT Pacific League championship trophy after losing 3-2 to Malaysia-Singapore’s Paper Rex on Sunday, May 28, in Seoul.

The ending to the championship for Korea’s DRX was disappointing for a team that stayed on the top of the VCT Pacific League for the entire season without relinquishing their first place on the standing.

However, the team’s coach, termi, while reflecting on the team’s performance all throughout the season, believes the schedule has not been fair to the team.

According to both MaKo and DRX’s head coach Termi, after their grand finals loss, the team was exhausted due to not only playing back-to-back five-map series on consecutive days but also because of their season schedule as a whole.

“I will say that this league did feel really long, and our players definitely felt burnt out. I want to say thank you to our players for keeping up with our schedule. Next year we will try to fix our own internal schedule so our players don’t feel burnt out when playing in the second part of the season.” termi said after losing.

DRX were having things go their way in the grand finals match, using their signature teamwork on their way to a seeming title win until things unravel.

While the 2022 VCT Game Changers championship was won in a reverse sweep, this year’s edition is the first time a result has decided a championship in VCT history.

The VCT became franchised in 2023, with the circuit divided into three leagues, with each region getting one.

Meanwhile, despite DRX’s grand finals loss, they will still participate at the VCT Masters Tokyo, which starts on June 11, against the other 11 best VALORANT teams in the world.
