Danish Esports firm Astralis, has defeated Vitality to advance to the last four of DreamHack Masters Malmö.
The DreamHack Masters involves 16 of the best CS: GO teams in the world. They are battling out to win the $250,000 prize money.
The tournament is split into two stages where a group stage is played at Malmömässan (the group stage is not open to the public), and the playoffs being played in front of the crowd in Malmö Arena.
Astralis beat Vitality 2-0 on Thursday at DreamHack Masters Malmö to secure the semi-final berth.
The Danes are now in a comfortable position. Although they will get to rest tomorrow during the quarterfinals of this CS: GO event, they are the only team that attended ESL One New York last weekend, remaining after Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses were ousted from the competition.
Lukas Rossander took to his Twitter page to celebrate the victory.
With Friday’s rest assured, it will be necessary for Astralis’ recovery both physically and mentally. It will also give them an extra day to prepare for their next opponent, tactically.
Meanwhile, Astralis defeated Vitality 16-5 on Vertigo with Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut having a superb performance. His teammates, however, did not quite follow suit.
Danish professional Counter-Strike player Nicolai “device” Reedtz emerged the best player on the server after having 31 kills. He also stole one round with an ace using mostly the Desert Eagle.
On the second map, The French squad played way better, and Vertigo didn’t affect Vitality at all, though.
The Danish teams were losing 10-5 after the first half but came back to winning way recording wins in eight consecutive rounds on their T-side. They emerged victorious on the map 16-14.
The “device” top-fragged again with 26 kills alongside Lukas “gla1ve” Rossander and opponent Richard “shox” Papillon.
Vitality will now have to face the winner of Grayhound vs. mousesports in the quarterfinals tomorrow. The French teams are doing well in their first tournament with shox.
Vitality returns to action tomorrow at 12:50 pm CT while Astralis will next play in the semifinals on Saturday at 8 am CT.
