G2 Esports has swiftly replaced one of its recent outgoing players with a Counter-Strike 2 rostermania move as Guatemalan superstar Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa was announced as the team’s new fifth on June 28.
Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa is replacing rifler Nexa, whose replacement has now been locked in. It has been widely reported in the last weeks that the 21-year-old will be joining G2 Esports before it was made official over the weekend.
After his announcement, the Guatemalan spoke about his willingness and eagerness to meet his new teammates and become a better player while also appreciating his former teammates at M80.
“Can’t still believe this happened, but I’m more ready than ever to grind and become a better player and person than I was before,” he said, taking the time to thank his old squad, M80.
MalbsMd has enough experience playing in Counter-Strike as he has been featuring on that scene since 2016, playing with Infinity Esports and Team One. These two teams were the ones he played for before joining the North American organization M80.
His move to M80 was successful as he helped the squad become an established contender in the region after beating off teams like NRG and Team Liquid in international qualifiers.
G2 Esports will hope that the entrance of MalbsMd during a seeming time of crisis for the squad, winning a single trophy since the start of CS2 in September, even with the fact that they have qualified for all the playoffs excluding just one event.
A lot of G2 fans hope that success will flow henceforth, especially after their exploits with stand-in Stewie2K at the IEM Dallas.
Meanwhile, Nexa is tipped to be close to be joining Bleed Esports alongside former coach and fellow Serbian Aleksandar “kassad” Trifunović. This won’t be the first time that Nexa and Kassad will be working together, as they have both worked together previously at iNation and Renegades.
