Team OG played a huge part in the bigger picture of the ESL One Birmingham 2024 and the competitive Dota 2 scene despite their fourth-place finish at ESL One Birmingham 2024.
Their final finish was surprising, considering that they had been tagged as heavy dark horses before the start of the tournament. In fact, their feat was a surprise one, and their captain, Sebastien “Ceb” Debs, is relishing their efforts while enjoying the surprised reactions from opponents and fans.
Team OG, against all odds, finished first in Group B during the group stage of the ESL One Birmingham 2024. They did this despite the presence of several fan favorites in their group, including Xtreme Gaming, Team Spirit, and Gaimin Gladiators, to progress to the Upper Bracket of Playoffs.
Unfortunately, they were dropped to the lower bracket when they lost to BetBoom Team. After that loss, Ceb was extremely confident about their ability to defeat every team in the lower bracket. They went on to do well against G2 but were overpowered by the eventual champions, Team Falcons, in a 1-2 loss.
The loss might have been disappointing, but the profile of their victors left them with their heads held high.
“Close! We fall this time, tried our hardest. Super proud of the team. A million thanks for the support and the love in the arena and online, it really lifted us. Weren’t supposed to even be here and end up top 4, @OGesports magic against the odds. We love you back” – Ceb posted on social media.
The OG line-up had Bozhidar “bzm” Bogdanov, Adrián “Wisper” Dobles, Matthew “Ari” Walker, Enzo “Timado” Gianoli, and Ceb. It wasn’t the most fanciful team in the competition, especially considering their initial inclusion in the competition.
Many of the fans were scared the inclusion of Team OG in ESL One Birmingham 2024 would disturb Chinese powerhouse G2.iG.
