Fast-rising esports organization Shopify Rebellion will be joining the LCS in 2024 after taking the spot of TSM in the league, the organization announced on Wednesday.

Shopify Rebellion will be the new contender in the North American League of Legends scene as they step onto Summoner’s Rift next year. They also became one of the ten franchised partners of the league after acquiring TSM’s LCS spot for around $10M.

“Entering League of Legends—one of the largest esports titles, with a rich competitive history—felt like an obvious next step for us as we continue to grow our presence in esports. We’re excited to work with the former TSM roster and for them to compete in the LCS under the Shopify Rebellion banner.” Shopify Rebellion esports program development lead Dario “TLO” Wünsch said.

Shopify Rebellion has been making waves in other ESports, garnering global recognition in StarCraft, Dota 2, Halo, Street Fighter, and Rocket League. The team has one of the best VALORANT Game Changers rosters in the world. The roster has recorded multiple top-three finishes at international and domestic events in the last two years.

They also finished in second place at the 2022 Game Changers Championship in Berlin. However, with the contracts of three of the four remaining players on TSM’s active roster set to expire in November, they will need to make big decisions this off-season.

jungler Lee “Bugi” Seong-yeop is the only player whose current contract is active until 2024 in a situation that may force Shopify Rebellion to sign free agents or offer the previous players new deals.

The exit of TSM from LCS became official after the initial announcement to leave the NA for another tier-one region back in May, ending their over-a-decade stay, which started in 2011 when the organization was formed.
