More roster news continues to emanate from JD Gaming as they continue to rebuild after an abrupt end to their League of Legends 2023 World Championship. A couple of new faces will join a few others whom they have confirmed will remain on the roster for 2024.
The organization on Monday, December 4 announced that Ruler and Kanavi will remain on the roster as they will re-sign with the organization for 2024.
JDG announced on Twitter, anticipating that the jungler Kanavi and the bot laner Ruler will lead the team to glory ahead as “we run it back with the legendary jungler,”. Kanavi is signing on for a fourth year with the organization, but Ruler will be spending his second season after he joined the team for the 2023 season, originally signing on for one season.
JDG announced the exits of midlaner Knight and top laner 369 on December 2, but there is still no clarity on which team both players will join for the next season. The coaching staff of the team was also affected in terms of changes as Lyn joined as an analyst, and Mafa was hired as head coach. The two spent both previous seasons with LCK’s Gen. G.
JDG won both LPL Splits and the Mid-Season Invitational in a successful 2023 League season. Although they were seen as the favourites to lift the Summoner’s Cup at Worlds, unfortunately, they were defeated 3-1 by T1 in the semifinals.
Elsewhere, LPL’s The 2023 Worlds’ finalist, Bilibili Gaming, hasn’t disclosed its new roster for the next season, although there are rumours that suggest that a trade of mid laners with JDG could happen.
What this means is that Knight would join Bilibili, while Yagao would move over to JDG. Nevertheless, both juggernaut teams haven’t confirmed official complete rosters for 2024.
