G2 Esports has emerged Red Bull Home Ground champions after winning a five-game thriller against Team Liquid.
The VALORANT team was pushed to map five after the score stood at 2-2. They eventually got their hand o the prize with a 13-10 G2 victory over Team Liquid. The success at one point looked bleak for the champions as Liquid were up 2-1 in map count.
Before emerging the winner, G2 was pushed by the runners up as both teams reached double digits in round count. Even in the final game, Liquid won Icebox 14-12 and Haven 13-11, while G2 claimed the decider map, Ascent, 13-10. G2 also had an easy ride as they won home Split and Bind easily 13-6 and 13-3 respectively.
With this success, G2 is now regarded as one of the best teams in the EU region. This is following the success recorded in all the tournaments they had participated in last season. The only time they last experienced a defeat was in the First Strike Europe against Team Heretics, who eventually won the tournament.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the regional tournaments have been hampered. This has made it to find it hard for G2 to prove their mettle on the international stage.
G2 and Liquid are expected to be among the strong international teams once a solution is found to the COVID-19 pandemic.
In another development, players have discovered another way to reach skybox on Ascent with Raze
VALORANT were able to make the discovery on Ascent throughout the last few weeks.
With this new development, Raze now has the ability to reach a new area. It was discovered in the attackers spawn on Ascent.
This is how the development came about: at the beginning of the round, a player was on the small maintenance hole in the attackers spawn. The VALORANT player then threw their satchel charge in front of them. As soon as the round started, they activated Raze’s ultimate ability and simultaneously boosted themselves with the rocket and satchel charge.
