OpTic Texas has made a huge announcement ahead of next season’s Call of Duty League as they drop half of their roster. The announcement came late Monday that Huke and Ghosty won’t be returning, leaving only Shotzzy and Dashy on the active roster.

Their current CDL contracts will expire on July 2, and many teams will shuffle their teams to improve their rosters. OpTic appreciated the players for their contribution to the team when they came in.

“Stepped in mid-season with huge shoes to fill and made an instant impact. We appreciate you, and best of luck.” OpTic Texas posted on Twitter.

Huke joined OpTic in January after superstar Scump retired from the competition; Huke is a 2020 World Champion with Dallas Empire and was followed by new CDL pro-Ghosty in February when iLLeY was moved to the bench.

Despite the best of performances from the two players for OpTic, it wasn’t enough for the heavily supported squad as they finished second at back-to-back Majors in Stages Three and Four before running out in the CDL playoffs, finishing in fifth/sixth place.

OpTic Texas will likely replace them with Shotzzy and Dashy for the time being. It was reported on June 21 that the team was considering singing from the Los Angeles Thieves, Drazah, and Envoy, with Surge’s Pred on the team’s wishlist as well.

The next weeks in the CDL will be interesting, with a lot of roster changes, addition, and player release, with unrestricted free agents expected to begin signing with teams.

Meanwhile, the CDL roster mania has entered full swing as Los Angeles Guerrillas drops 3 of its four roster players. The Call of Duty team announced this on Monday, stating that Assault, Exceed, and JoeDeceives will all become unrestricted free agents in the Call of Duty League.

Arcitys becomes the only remaining starting player on the roster, while Arian and Mayhem are not spared as they were released from the coaching staff.
