The best Super Smash Bros, Leonardo “MKLeo” Lopez has ended 2019 with another Major win at 2GG Kongo Saga.

MKLeo pulled off the stunning victory last night in typical Leo fashion, coming from behind to defeat another top player, Gavin “Tweek” Dempsey.

The top player had on his way to the success sent four ranked opponents, which include Robert “Myran” Herrin, Shimizu “Umeki” Masaki, Tea, and Isami “T” Ikeda packing on his way to winning the major event.

Although notable big names like Tyler “Marss” Martins and Eric “ESAM” Lew, were absent from the Kongo Saga lineup, the event labelled as the last S-tier event of the year lived up to its billing.

Leo made it into the top-eight on the winners side of the bracket, after going past Robert “Myran” Herrin, Shimizu “Umeki” Masaki, Tea, and Isami “T” Ikeda in matches that were full of close games, but the top player exerted his dominance over his respective opponent by set count. He only dropped three games leading into the top cut.

His final opponent, Tweek, who was on the other side of the bracket, rose to the occasion, after playing his trusty Wario in most matchups.

Recall that Tweek has been low on confidence and character crisis since he lost to Leo at Evo 2019. It was observed that he has been less comfortable with his Pokémon Trainer after several changes in patches over the last several months.

He worked hard to find his mojo when he pulled out a Joker and Wolf multiple times against top players like Tsubasa “Tsu” Takuma and Shuto “Shuton” Moriya. Having played Joker in previous tournaments, he is now showing that he’s comfortable with the pick now.

This led to a clash with William “Glutonny,” Belaid, who is arguably the best Wario player in the world. He picked up a win in the final stock to set up a winner’s finals clash with Leo.

In the final, the duo, in their usual ways, traded the first three games, with Tweek winning game one and Leo took the second before repeating the process again.

This is Leo’s 15th first-place finish of the year.
