MAD Lions have secured their qualification to the 2023 LEC Winter Split after securing a 2-0 win over Astralis in the elimination match over the weekend. Despite the fact that MAD Lions was placed second in the regular season, a dominant display helped them reach the playoff.
Throughout the two games, MAD Lions dominated, thanks to Astralis’s struggles in the two games. Astralis couldn’t keep up or catch up in team fights, although they did manage to steal a life from MAD Lions at each fight.
A deeper look into the game saw MAD Lions win Dragon’s Soul and Baron Buff in the first game and eventually destroy Astralis’ base within 30 minutes.
The MAD Lions didn’t stop there as they resumed with urgency making two kills straight after the ten players had a face-off in a bush.
MAD Lions were dominant, but Astralis tried to contain them and even got close to their lane towers, but they were repelled by MAD Lions, who quickly conquered the Baron buff to take down the team in the last fight of the match.
MAD Lions eventually made sure that they got their spot as one of the four teams in the playoffs of the 2023 Winter Split.
MAD Lions will play against SK Gaming in their first matchup, and with Team Vitality knocked out of the competition; MAD Lions becomes the highest-performing team remaining in the bid for the title from the regular season.
Meanwhile, International VALORANT set up an iconic international rivalry on Monday as South America won their game at VCT LOCK//IN, which is the first international VALORANT tournament of 2023.
LOUD and NRG were the two teams that went head to head, and with each map, the game was interesting as LOUD won the first map while NRG won the second, although the former took the third map.
