Ppgod and Samd shunned out top performance on Monday when they dominated the bot lane to secure 2-1 win for Victory five against Top Esports in the week seven of the 2020 LPL Summer Split.

This is the first defeat Top Esports; the defending champions will be experiencing since the start of the tournament, having had 8-0 advantage before the game.

The defending champions on entering the game had only dropped two games since the start of the split, but V5 was too much for them to handle.

With V5 being the first team to take a series off of the defending champions, they have improved to 8-2 on the season.

During the bot lane battle, V5 support Ppgod, who set up many skirmishes for his carry, Samd eliminated Top support Yuyanjia several times comfortably. During the assault,  Ppgod gave out an assuring performance that did not require his teammates’ help in the early game.

Although Top showed its mettle with some great individual plays, Mid laner knight’s Cassiopeia was a roll in the second game. The pick produced a one-vs-three highlight-reel moment as Top’s players showed great synergy. But they were countered by V5 because their macro coordination and teamfights were better.

With relentless aggression displayed by both teams throughout the match, when they were behind, they tried to make plays happen around the Rift, and they finished the games with high kill counts in classic LPL style.

The balance in the game was evident with the last game’s gold difference. Although Top got both Nashor buffs and won the majority of the mid-game teamfights, but ended on the losing side.

With classic playing style coming from Top so far in the entire series, several V5 players engaged in a fight against them in the Baron pit and emerged the winner by rushing toward Top’s Nexus to claim the series win.

Despite the defeat, Top is till occupying the number one spot in the LPL Summer Split standings, with V5 right behind them.

Both teams have six to seven matches left before heading into the playoffs.

Next for Top will be against the rookies of Vici Gaming on Sunday, July 19 at 4 am CT, while V5 will face Invictus Gaming on Monday, July 20, at 6 am CT.
