One of the most iconic North American League of Legends pros, Darshan, announced his retirement from competitive gaming on Monday, Nov. 13. The Canadian-American gamer revealed this via a social media video where he stated that he has lost the motivation to continue to play competitively.
Darshan’s video spoke on his struggles in his gameplay while stating his purpose going forward and whether esports is still in his plans or not.
“A decade of league and what’s next. Thank you to everyone I had the pleasure of interacting with in eSports. Whether you were a fan, coach, teammate, manager, or even just in the scene, you all had a meaningful impact on my life. These memories will live on forever in my heart. I feel moved to find the ways in which I can give back to this community. I hope you can support me in the next chapter of my life. I’m done playing, or even coaching, or doing, I guess, anything League of Legends-relate. The main motivation to keep playing died out. Kinda, what I’ve been really motivated now is to just really share kinda all of myself with the community, with the world… I also just love music, and dance, and art, and I feel like there are so many kinds of content I can create.” Darshan said.
The specific focus of Darshan is not yet clear but content creation seems the obvious and biggest priority for him as he ends an era in the league and sets to start a new era.
Darshan has been was previously known as ZionSpartan, and has been playing on the North American scene since early 2012. He played with Team Coast and Dignitas in 2014 and spent close to five years at CLG. He had two LCS titles, two Worlds appearances, and second place at the Mid-Season Invitational in 2016.
