Team Heretics could make a return to competitive Call of Duty in grand style after entering into a major partnership with another organization. The partnership will involve the Spanish organization and Call of Duty League franchise Florida Mutineers.
The partnership will form Miami Heretics and will see them play in the CDL beginning next season. The news had been in the offing since the Major Four, with The Mutineers planning to announce the news officially.
However, they chose not to as they are still currently owned by the Misfits Gaming Group, Misfits Gaming Group manages the Misfits Gaming brand and the Florida Mayhem franchise in the Overwatch League.
This is not the first time Heretics and Misfits will be doing business, as Heretics bought the Misfits’ LEC Slot last summer and applied the Heretics rebrand prior to the start of the 2023 season.
Heretics later entered the European League of Legends and now the CDL, which it had been trying to re-enter since participating between 2016 to 2019 when they were seen as one of the big European teams of that period.
Meanwhile, the Mutineers will aim to use the partnership to rebrand and resuscitate a struggling team after their poor first year in the CDL.
They won three Home Series events in 2020 even though they have not finished above fourth at a Major. Even the Champs have not ended beyond eight while they sat out of the Champs last year, and there is a possibility of missing the champ again this year.
After this partnership between the two bodies, there are expectations for more similar partnerships before the 2024 season.
Meanwhile, Version 1 will be merged with another organization, according to the report, while they still remain owners of the RØKKR franchise.
