G2’s long-term search for a duelist for their 2024 VCT roster has produced an excellent result, as the organization has identified and picked up a dynamic player to join the team. G2 took over the squad of ex-The Guard players ahead of the 2024 VALORANT season in VCT Americas.

After an extensive market search, an ex-duelist for Cloud9, Nathan “Leaf” Orf, will become the roster’s primary duelist role once he joins G2. His addition to the team is an advantage for the team that just won Ascension.

The organization announced his signing on Thursday as they completed their starting lineup for the 2024 VCT Americas team, pouncing on the opportunity to sign The Guard’s players after Riot allowed them to entertain offers from other teams following their release from their previous org.

G2 were able to outsmart around 17 organizations that were also trying to pick up the players. In the duelist category from VCT Americas talent, duelists like jawgemo, leaf, aspas, yay, and Demon1 were available for G2 to potentially sign as at September.

Leaf spent last three years with C9 and a lot of other roster moves as an international event appearance at Champions 2021. Meanwhile, C9 has brought back in-game leader Anthony “vanity” Malaspina and are relying on Francis “OXY” Hoang to take Leaf’s place.

Leaf and G2 will make their debut on Thursday, Oct. 26, in a show match against Sentinels.

Elsewhere, Natus Vincere are set to make one of the most shocking decision yet as they are about to swap the greatest CS: GO player s1mple with a youngster, Sprout’s young AWPer Ihor “w0nderful” Zhdano, for the beginning of CS2’s cycle.

The roster change was reported on Thursday, and it is coming after s1mple failed to attend the first big CS2 tournament with the rest of the NAVI squad. The player couldn’t make it to Sydney because of his unavailable EU residency papers.

The organization had to field head coach Andrij “B1ad3” Ghorodensjkyj as a last-minute stand-in.
