Fnatic didn’t have the best of the season last year in the League of Legends, but they are already doing all they can to ensure that the 2023 LEC Spring Split goes a better way. They have walked it by adding players to their roster for the 2023 LEC Spring Split.
Fnatic have included Óscar Muñoz “Oscarinin” Jiménez and Henk “Advienne” Reijenga in their main roster after both players were promoted from Fnatic’s Academy roster.
While Oscarinin is making his LEC debut, Advienne is returning to LEC after playing in the LVP Superliga last year. Oscarinin will take the place of veteran top laner Martin “Wunder” Hansen, while Advienne will replace rookie support Rúben “Rhuckz” Barbosa.
It is a revamped roster that the organization hopes will help the team get to a better position and placement in future competitions.
Individually, Oscarinin is an experienced 19 years old whose experience will be an asset, especially as he is a regular with Gangplank, Jayce, and Camille while he was on Gnar in the last Split.
Advienne on the roster indicates a second opportunity at the LEC after he exited prematurely in 2022 for Excel ESports; he can now prove himself in Europe while Fnatic is restrategizing after their disappointing record in the league during the winter Split which is the second-worst.
Fnatic, in a statement, claims that they are not ready for winter and that they have been trying to put things together as soon as possible to allow players to bond before the start of the Split.
“One thing was clear—we were not ready for winter. Lack of preparation and few established routines meant increased pressure on stage, with a clash of each player’s varying goals and profiles complicating meaningful improvement. We’ve made significant changes with the team together already, bonding and scrimming, giving them as much time before the Split starts as possible.” Fnatic said in a statement.
