For a second consecutive day running, Faze came from the brink of defeat to secure a win in the Europe RMR after Latvian star WPer Helvijs “broky” Saukants impressed.
On Tuesday, the Faze Clan needed see off GamerLegion as the underdogs forced four overtimes and almost made a comeback until they sealed a 28-25 victory.
With Wednesday’s 19-17 victory over Fnatic, FaZe now moved in 2-0 in the IEM Rio Major Europe Regional Major Ranking (RMR). Key to the victory is the Latvian WPer Helvijs “broky” Saukants made multiple kills and utilized a Nuke.
A loss would have been a huge upset especially for a team like FaZe, who are a CS:GO powerhouse. However, the 21-year-old “broky” Saukants was the star man on the day with 36 frags, and several multi-kills.
FaZe’s second best fragger on the day was Håvard “rain” Nygaard, but he had 10 Frags lesser than “broky” Saukants’ 36.
However, FaZe clan still needs one more win to advance as the European RMR is done in best of three series. The FaZe team is considered one of the best team in the CS:OG.
The team contains William “mezii” Merriman, who is the in-game leader, as well as AWPer Nico “nicoodoz” Tamjidi. They would be instrumental to whatever success the team will try to have at the IEM Rio Major, although they still have to qualify first.
These two results, despite being victories, are seen as a bit of struggling period for FaZe by some stakeholders.
Finn “karrigan” Andersen, who is the team leader for the international super team, spoke on the backdrop of a quarterfinal exit from the ESL Pro League and recent struggles in the IEM Rio Major Europe Regional Major Ranking (RMR) tournament.
“I think our main problem so far this season, the last one and a half months, is that we basically need five percent more of everything, Five percent team play is lacking, five percent individual level, and also how we react and maybe also some confidence.” “karrigan” Andersen said.
