Whether you are an avid gamer or in it for betting or a hardcore Counter-Strike: Global Offensive (CS: GO) esports fan, then you will be interested in the North American and European ECS seasons.
This season’s EU ECS will feature top teams, lots of skillful challengers, and only eight tickets (four per region) for the season finals.
It was back in 2016 that production company, Faceit launched their Counter-Strike: Global Offensive tournament, known as the Esports Championship Series (ECS). Later in 2017, Faceit partnered with the video-sharing platform YouTube for the series. ECS is one of the two major Counter-Strike leagues alongside the ESL Pro League.
Since then, the Esports Championship Series has become a special and well-established tournament that sets up teams from the two most robust regions up against each other.
ECS S8 EU Tournament Format
ECS S8 EU will consist of five online single-elimination bracket series featuring Bo3 matches, each of which will feature eight teams in a single-elimination event with $25,000 at stake.
As you already know, there are four spots for the Finals for each region, so this regular season will help decide the four best teams. The first one will be determined immediately after the end of the second online series, based on the total prize winnings acquired up to that point while the remaining three Finals’ tickets will go to the teams that will win the remaining three online series.
ECS S8 EU Prize Pool
The total prize pool of the ECS S8 EU regular season has $125,000. The same prize pool goes for the NA iteration. If you divide the amount by five, and you will see that the total prize pool of each of the five regular season’s online series is $25,000. Thus, eight teams in each series will split $25,000.
The per-series prize pool distribution is as follows:
Position Prize
1st position $12,000
2nd position $5,000
3rd/4th positions $2,500
5th/8th positions $750.
ECS S8 EU Teams
The major teams competing include the top teams such as Vitality, Astralis, Mousesports, and FaZe Clan. Other fierce contestants include: CR4ZY, Virtus.pro AVANGAR, Fnatic, and North.
