The Kovač cousins, Nemanja “huNter-” Kovač and Nikola “NiKo” Kovač, have again proved their mettle for G2 as the team came out on top of a two-map CS:GO series against BIG in ESL Pro League Season 16’s second day of Group B.

The series went overtime on both  Mirage and Vertigo.

Despite being brilliant in parts of these two maps, BIG couldn’t stop G2 from winning them. It became a long game as they didn’t give up without a fight

All thanks to the firepower of Kovač Cousins, which helped them secure a clean sweep.

HuNter proved to be the difference maker on Mirage (19-14). He finished the game with 39 frags and just 17 deaths.

BIG showed the fighting spirit in most part of the game but collapsed once it went to overtime, despite the best efforts of Josef “faveN” Baumann, who finished with a 33-19 K/D.

Although BIG dominated the first half playing on the CT side on Vertigo (19-17). Although the win in the second pistol increased their advantage to 12-4, G2 got back into the game courtesy of a key victory in the eco round. This gave them the confidence to fight back.

G2G then pushed BIG to overtime and took the map after winning three consecutive rounds on the T, with Milo dictating the game. He contributed 36 frags to secure complete for G2.

Courtesy of this victory against BIG,  G2 is now in a prime spot to advance to the ESL Pro League Season 16 playoffs.

Having maintained a 100 percent record so far in the competition with a 2-0 win on Wednesday, the international team spearheaded by the Kovač cousins will still play against FaZe Clan, Outsiders, and FTW. As things stand, they need just a win to qualify for the playoffs.

Since BIG is yet to win a single map in ESL Pro League season 16 and are only above FTW in Group B, they will need to win their next two games at least to have any chance of securing the ticket for playoffs.

What they have in front of them is a tough task because they will still have to face FaZe, one of the best CS:GO teams in the world at the moment.
