Vikin.gg has continued to work towards the goal of staking their claim at the Major by defeating Chicken Fighters in the ongoing ESL One Los Angeles Online
This is a follow-up win against Team Secret. The victory over Chicken Fighters in the current competition has secured a top-three berth for the Dota 2 team.
Despite having new players in its roaster, Vikin.gg was not expected to make considerable progress, but it has done that against all the odds facing some of the best players and rosters in the world. The win, which was one of the fasted three-game series over Chicken Fighters, means that they need to win two more games to secure a Major title.
Both teams wasted no time in closing out games one and two, respectively, under 25 minutes, as they completely shut each other down while trying to avoid being eliminated.
Vikin.gg won game one after Lycan slide through the bans. That was one of Chicken Fighters’ biggest mistakes, which they didn’t make in the second game.
Chicken Fighters let their guard down when Indji “Shad” Lub popped early to overpower Chicken Fighters in lanes. This allowed the Dota 2 team to win two of the three fights and built their lead quickly as Lycan recorded 8/0/8.
In game two, Chicken Fighters came out blazing hot by banning both Lycan and Snapfire and focused on team fight control, choosing a Pangolier, Rubick, and Troll Warlord. Vikin.gg chose Grimmstroke and Mars to counter their move, but that wasn’t enough. They failed to overcome due to the strength of an early game Death Prophet used by Ondřej “Supream^” Štarha.
Although Death Prophet lost one life in the process, Chicken Fighters sped through the lanes to neutralize Vikin.gg’s support heroes.
Chicken Fighters won the game ended via a full push that crushed their opponent.
In the third and final game, both sides clashed, and viewers saw a bit of competition, which was won by Vikin.gg despite being outmatched in starting damage.
With the last pick Alchemist, Chicken Fighters tried its last option – which was cheesing them but Vikin.gg counter-played the move, having known to be a regular user of that hero.
