In a bid to tackle match-fixing in VALORANT, Riot Games has provisionally suspended Singaporean VALORANT pro player Wong “JayH” Jia Heng.
The player who most recently competed in the VALORANT Challengers League (VCL) 2024 Malaysia/Singapore: Split 1 with Disguised was handed the suspension on suspicion of match-fixing, although the suspension was not based on the VCL MY/SG Split 1 but rather the suspected match-fixing is for a tournament before that.
The official Twitter account for VALORANT Malaysia and Singapore announced the provisional suspension of JayH on Tuesday, April 30, revealing that the suspension was till further notice and it will also cover every Riot Games event and third-party tournament as well until a review is conducted after the completion of investigations.
While the tournament organizers released a statement in that regard, the player himself JayH, has responded. JayH is one of the most prominent players in VALORANT Challengers League (VCL) Malaysia and Singapore and also signed up to the Disguised VALORANT lineup.
“Hi, any VCL MYSG personnel can contact me, please; I don’t matchfix and have never participated in any activity involving it. Also, before putting this statement out, I wasn’t informed about any ongoing investigation or verified anything on my end. (sic)” he posted.
He previously played for Bleed Esports and Ninjas in Pyjamas, and with Disguised, he helped them secure the third spot during the VCL Split 1 Malaysia Singapore.
Meanwhile, the statement highlighted two aspects, with the first match-fixing allegation alleged to be before he entered the VALORANT Challengers 2024. Although the timeline for the alleged event wasn’t provided, according to the timeline, the speculation could fall on either the VCT China Ascension or the qualifying phase of the VCL Split 1.
JayH’s provisional suspension will remain until he is proven innocent by the tournament organization and Riot Games.
