Tournament organizers for the Apex Legends Global Series have announced the return of the competition after close to two years break. In the announcement made on Sunday, the event will take place in North America once again, with the Split One Playoffs to be held in Los Angeles, CA.
Teams from North America, EMEA, APAC North, APAC South, China, and South America will form the customary 40 top-performing teams from all over the world that will feature in the Split One Playoffs that will run from May 2 to May 5.
The last time an ALGS LAN was held in North America was the 2022 ALGS Championship, which took place in Raleigh, NC. The venue is the 10,000-capacity Galen Center, which hosted the 2022 Call of Duty League World Championship and Ludwig Ahgren’s Mogul Chessboxing Championship.
The Copper Box Arena in London hosted the Split One and Split Two Playoffs as all three LANs in the 2023 ALGS season were played in the U.K. However, the 2023 Championship happened at Resorts World Arena in Birmingham.
However, concerns were raised by fans last year about the rigidity of the LAN locations, and that could be the reason the 2024 season Split One Playoffs will be a major shift.
Group stage games will happen on the 2nd and 3rd of May, while the elimination bracket will start on May 4 and the grand final on Sunday, May 5.
The competition, taking place in sunny Southern California, will see the top 20 placing teams that reach the grand finals share from a $1 million prize pool. They will also try to replace TSM as reigning world champions. The NA giants won two out of three LANs last season. Meanwhile, the tickets for the event will be available for sale from March 22.
