The Atlanta FaZe have continued from where they stopped with a perfect first day at the Call of Duty League Los Angeles Home Series.
They had won a championship in front of their home crowd two weeks ago. This has made pundits rate them as the best team in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare at the moment. With the weekend performance, they have started the defence of their title flawlessly this weekend.
During the games, Faze went past Florida Mutineers and Dallas Empire, winning all their maps to secure the top spot in Group B.
OpTic Gaming Los Angeles, which has also won 2-0 during the weekend, will also follow The Atlanta FaZe proceed to today’s single-elimination bracket.
Their clash against Florida was a rematch of the grand finals from the Atlanta Home Series event, and they ended up dominating and winning flawlessly.
In determining the first team that will advance out of group play, FaZe squared off against Dallas, and it ended 3-0 in FaZe’sFaZe’s favour. However, despite the flawless scoreline, it was a close encounter.
It was a back-and-forth contest in Map one, St. Petrograd Hardpoint, which was won narrowly by Atlanta 250-241. Simp gave FaZe the 6-3 map victory after taking over Piccadilly Search and Destroy with his sniper. He dropped 11 kills to win.
It was another close encounter in the second map, while in the Hackney Yard Domination, which is the third map, FaZe secured the series sweep by winning 149-139. In the third map, Cellium, who was the Atlanta Home Series MVP, had the most kills in the lobby with 29.
Meanwhile, OpTic defeated the Minnesota RØKKR 3-0 after reverse sweeping the Los Angeles Guerrillas in Group A. In the battle of LA, the hometown team was on the losing side during the weekend. The lost two hard-fought maps against the Guerrillas but ended winning six straight maps at the end of the day, which helped them move on from pool play.
OpTic was also the winning side in the Azhir Cave Hardpoint. They won 250-208 with a 33-kill performance from Dashy against Minnesota.
TJHaLy and SlasheR were too handy for the opponent using Rammaza Search and Destroy to give OpTic the 6-3 win and 2-0 series lead.
