The dissolution of the championship Evil Geniuses VALORANT roster left some players in contract jail, although some have been able to escape that compromising scenario.
After weeks and months of speculation, another star player has escaped from EG’s “contract jail,” and it’s former EG in-game leader Kelden “Boostio” Pupello, who has officially joined 100 Thieves for the 2024 VCT season.
That move has fully rounded out the 100 Thieves roster with Boostio, Cryocells, Asuna, bang, and another offseason addition, eeiu. One of the players, Boostio, is a fix in the temporary void opened up with the movement of NaturE to Red Bull Home Ground as a stand-in in November.
Boostio’s announcement was made with former assistant coach Tony “Zikz” Gray meeting and Boostio telling him how the past four months have been very long.
The VALORANT producer/editor for 100T made an embarrassing tweet where he said that they didn’t purchase EG’s championship shirt that appeared in the video.
Meanwhile, Boostio’s transfer from EG to 100T has been a public secret, with several conversations about it holding for several months. In the weeks leading up to the official move in September, some reports claimed that EG had turned down 100 T’s initial buyout request for the player.
On the other hand, Boostio himself continued to deny the rumors on Twitch, although his mom gave a clue of a possible move and the expected destination.
Eventually, Ethan and Demon1 left for NRG in September and c0m is also being rumoured to be heading to the Leviatán team.
EG has backed out of LCS and several other esports titles, but they will stay in the VCT Americas for the 2024 season. The season will start with the KICK-OFF tournament on Feb. 16, with two teams expected to secure a place to Masters Madrid.
