Free agent superstar Jaccob “yay” Whiteaker has joined a new team ahead of the VALORANT Challengers North American league as Disguised Toast announced his addition to their VALORANT roster on Tuesday.

The announcement was made just before he was introduced into the Pros v Noob showcase against a stream team featuring Toast, LilyPichu, Sykkuno, Hasan, and TinaKitten.

Meanwhile, yay will be in the starting role, which was made vacant by the departure of Drake “Exalt” Branly mid-split, while substitute Chris “riku” Piasecki filled in for the remainder of Disguised’s first Challengers split. Toast on April 1 announced that yay was joining their roster, but many took it as an April fool prank.

yay left Cloud9 after a short stint where he featured in the VCT LOCK//IN before he left with few weeks to the start of the VCT Americas as many expected him to eventually take the Challengers route in order to keep playing VALORANT in 2023. In 2022 yay announced himself as one of the best VALORANT players with OpTic Gaming. He was instrumental for OpTic as they won the VCT Masters Reykjavik and reached the world championship grand finals at Champions 2022.

Meanwhile, Toast explained how he convinced yay to join his team as the roster prepares for the VALORANT Challengers NA second split set for April 18.

“I heard he’s free, and maybe he likes us enough to give us a shot, [so] I messaged him, ‘hey, do you wanna see if you like the guys and the guys like you, and if things work out, we can take it from there,’ and he said yes, and that’s how all happened,” Toast said.
