Team Spirit’s star carry player, Yatoro, has eventually opened up on his experience during Dota 2’s The International 2023, when he and other professional players toured Valve’s offices to meet the developers working on the game.
Yatoro recently aired his view on the tour when he featured on Oleksii “STORM” Tumanov’s Twitch stream, where he explained his experience at Valve in a disappointing fashion.
During the interview on the Twitch stream, Yatoro observed that CS2 developers’ offices had more personnel than Dota 2 and even went as far as saying that the latter can be counted on the fingers of one hand.
Furthermore, Yatoro also mentioned that the designers he met were unfriendly at Valve, and none of the developers tried to meet the players. His translation of their attitude means a lack of interest in Dota 2’s competitive scene.
All of these also cast doubt on future content releases, especially without explanation from the body, while they were unanswered, pushing Yatoro to question IceFrog’s involvement in Dota 2’s development.
IceFrog has been a huge debate in the games development discussions, especially as regards Valve. As far back as 2022, two-time TI champion N0tail doubted IceFrog’s presence in developing Dota 2 as the game saw drastic changes until spring 2023.
Dota 2 got a big patch, one of its biggest patches in two years, towards the summer of 2023, as fans celebrated IceFrog’s alleged return. However, since then, IceFrog’s relationship with Valve has been a mystery.
However, with Yatoro’s Valve HQ visit, he’s not trusting the process under the man considered the father of Dota 2 and whose professionalism and brilliance have been responsible for some of the most iconic patches in the game’s history.
Recently, fans have been growing disappointed in the recent Dota 2 patches, which fans have been getting stale quicker than usual for the last three years.
