Today, Thursday, October 19, will see the first matchups of the Worlds 2023 Swiss Stage happen, and expectations continue to get stimulated between competing organizations and players.

One of the organizations includes LPL’s Weibo Gaming, and their mid-laner Xiaohu is already impressed by one of the players of their first matchup opponents during the tournament.

NRG’s Palafox is the player who has caught the attention of Chinese player Xiaohu, who claimed Palafox is powerful and seems like a genius. Xiaohu’s claim is backed by a bit of experience, as Weibo Gaming had scrimmed against NRG previously, which gave him the opportunity to face Palafox.

Chinese representatives Weibo Gaming are one of the favorites in the competition and in the upcoming match, although they are LPL’s fourth seed, especially as the league’s teams are recognized as much stronger than North American or European squads.

Nevertheless, an upset from NRG shouldn’t be overruled, and surprising Weibo in the Swiss Stage of Worlds 2023 is one of the best ways to send that signal. Palafox and crew won the 2023 LCS Championship, becoming the region’s first seed at the international tournament in a stunning fashion that shocked North American audiences.

The Worlds 2023 will be Palafox’s international debut, making him an underdog experience-wise against his lane opponent, Xiaohu, who has three Mid-Season Invitational titles under his belt and numerous Worlds then appearances.

Similarly, Gen.G Chovy revealed that G2 Esports’ Caps is the player who has impressed him, and he will be looking out for him at the Worlds 2023.

The Swiss Stage of the 2023 League of Legends World Championship kicks off on Thursday, October 19, with NRG and Weibo, as well as other North American and Chinese teams like Cloud9, Team Liquid, LNG Esports, Bilibili Gaming, and MSI 2023 champions, JD Gaming all involved.
