Despite helping Viperio qualify for the BLAST Paris Major Europe RMR through the closed qualifiers in February as a stand-in, Rory “cryths” Ursell will not be traveling nor playing for them at the BLAST Paris Major Europe RMR.
Viperio have instead gone to replace him with Matas “Extinct” Strumila on the roster to complete their roster for April’s RMR. Cryths stood in for James “bevve” Slinn, who left Viperio’s active lineup in February, just before the start of the RMR, due to personal reasons.
Despite losing one of their key players, Cryths helped Viperio move past boomer demons, Forward, and Tricked in the first open qualifier. The British team managed to carry over their form to earn a 3-2 record which helped them win a spot at the RMR. Furthermore, they got wins against 1WIN, PGE Turow, and SAW while losing to Astralis and Into the Breach.
A disappointed, Cryths expressed his feelings about the situation on social media.
“Not going to lie; this feels like absolute shit; everything just ripped away like that. I just wish I could five-punch combo stick and move to the RMR. #backtoretirement.” Cryths posted on social media.
The 21-year-old made quite an impact in the short period he played at Viperio as he finished the closed qualifier for the Europe RMR with a 1.08 rating from eight maps played.
He was also rated the second highest-player from Viperio in the tournament, just behind Jack “Gizmy” von Spreckelsen. The recent events have seen Cryths enjoy the sympathy of fans who have taken to social media, especially the U.K. CS:GO community, to demand for justice for him.
The BLAST Paris Major Europe RMR A will start on April 6 and end three days later as Viperio gear up for potential clashes against teams like Outsiders, Natus Vincere, FaZe Clan, and Fnatic.
