The first week of VCT Americas 2024 Stage One has delivered some of the most prominent fixtures that will usher in the event at the start of April. A randomized draw done by Riot Games unveiled the first matches of the tournament, with three of the draws pitting together some of the biggest rivalries and best teams in the league.
The excitement has started building up as Cloud9’s new roster will face the Aspas-led Leviatán squad on Saturday, April 6, before NRG Esports face LOUD in the first super match of the day. Both rosters are strong in their own rights plenty but they both lost to Sentinels during the 2024 VCT Kickoff.
The next day, Sunday, April 7, G2 Esports will play Evil Geniuses in a rematch of their winner’s match series during the Kickoff. The day will be rounded out by a clash between Sentinels and 100 Thieves in one of the most heated rivalries in the league. It’s a fixture that Sentinels has dominated in the last couple of tournaments and even holds a winning record against the Thieves.
VCT Masters Madrid 2024 is the first international event of the year, and it will kick off on Thursday, March 14.
Meanwhile, the return of investments by the great Apex Legends for 2024 has seen Cloud9 joining NAVI and Spacestation Gaming as major organizations that have recommitted the shooter. On Wednesday, Cloud9 announced StayNaughty, ChaoticMuch, and sauceror, along with coach iShiny and analyst coldjyn on social media as their new signings.
Cloud9 exited the ALGS in December 2022, but before then, they brought StayNaughty to the org, and he represented them in the 2022 Championship in Raleigh, North Carolina. This serves as a second coming for him to Cloud9, and his return has been well received by fellow pro players such as Zachmazer, HisWattson, and Naghz.
