The Guard’s VALORANT team may feel a bit of luck and a sigh of relief after it was revealed that the North American organization would keep the contract of its VALORANT roster, at least for the moment.

The company has laid off a lot of workforce in several departments, including design, social media, management, and talent. The future of the teams under the Guard’s banner is uncertain, with the Overwatch League, Call of Duty team, and VALORANT roster directly under Kroenke Sports & Entertainment.

The VALORANT team has a game next Monday, February 27, at the North American Challengers league, but the team players could be sold by The Guard soon.

However, the Los Angeles Guerrillas and Los Angeles Gladiators, who are the Guard’s CoD and OWL teams, are up for sale, but until a bid is made and accepted, they will continue to operate.

Unfortunately, the Guard’s players are respected and regarded as some of the best players with potential in the NA VALORANT.

One of them, Trent, was linked to Sentinels during the offseason, Trent is considered the team’s hottest asset, but the move wasn’t successful.

The Guard’s situation continues to show the instability of the esport industry and a potential recession approaching as mass layoffs have become common.

The Russia – Ukraine war is one of the major factors affecting the industry with international trade disrupted.

Elsewhere, Call of Duty will have a new game released in 2023, as revealed by Jason Schreier.

According to him these are what to expect with this year’s Call of Duty:

– It’s more Modern Warfare — led by Sledgehammer, supervised by Infinity Ward

– Was originally “premium expansion” but morphed into a full game

– Current plan is to continue MW2 story and carry over MW2 content
