The International 6 Day 1 Recap

No team escaped unscathed after a fiery first day in the group stages of The International 6 at KeyArena in Seattle Center.

Defending champions Evil Geniuses had a subdued Day 1 with only 1 win in three matches, but their 23-minute thrashing of OG in Game 2 of their match saved their day and allowed them to scrap for a share of an early Group A lead with OG and LGD Gaming, who also finished with four points.

EG’s draft of Drow Ranger, Mirana, Shadow Demon, Puck and Abbadon were just too much against OG’s Batrider, Spirit Breaker, Crystal Maiden, Templar Assassin and Troll Warlord in that quick Game 2, where EG had a kill-death ratio 32-15, of was one of the shortest matches in the day.

TNC Gaming, Wings Gaming and Alliance sit mid-table in Group A with three points apiece, while Natus Vincere had a lackluster first day with no wins for two points and Escape lost twice in three matches for a single point.

Group B’s Team Secret almost ended the day unbeaten but their redundancy in heroes allowed MVP Phoenix to pull off an upset in their last game.

Digital Chaos bounced back from their sluggish draw against MVP Phoenix in their first match of the day and dominated winless Fnatic in their last game.

Secret and DC now lead Group B along with Newbee and EHOME with three points each in two games. MVP and Liquid have two points apiece while both Vici Gaming Reborn and Fnatic failed to win a single game.
