Another Teamfight Tactics LAN Open tournament from the stables of Riot Games has been announced with a date set for December 13 in Macao. Riot Games officially announced the event on Sunday, stating that the event would be an open-bracket tournament.

Players from all over the world have 512 spots to fill and a prize pool of $300,000 USD to fight for, not forgetting the TFT Macao Open Champion title. This will be the second edition of the event, and it will be somewhat different from the first edition, as this year’s TFT Open has incorporated different changes based on feedback from the 2023 edition of the tournament held in Las Vegas.

First, the number of games played per day, as well as the number of rounds, have been increased to give players more competitive opportunities. Riot has added the round-of-64 and the round-of-16. However, there is no change in the $300,000 prize pool, albeit the winner will go home with $100,000 while players will start earning money from the top 128 positions.

The three-day Macao Open event will see the ticket purchasing process determined by player rank and past tournament participation. This means that players in the Challenger players will exclusively be able to participate in the presale that will start on September 4. Furthermore, Riot will not use the single “snapshot” worldwide ranking of players like it did last year; rather, it will use a regional basis.

TFT esports head Micheal Sherman revealed this and more, saying: “Effectively when the Challenger cut-off happens each night, that will be when we take the snapshot,””

Riot also revealed that there won’t be a regional allocation of tickets, and players in China will get a separate ticketing process. However, they pledged to ensure that there’s no case of ticket underselling in any region by monitoring the ticket-selling process.
