A popular VALORANT Pro has decided to switch to content creation on a full time while hanging the mouse and keyboard as a VALORANT player for Sentinels. Three years with Sentinels and Tyson “TenZ,” Ngo has called it time on his competitive playing career.
Despite being regarded as one of the biggest VALORANT players, the 23-year-old made the announcement on Saturday, Sept. 14, on social media. He revealed that the decision to move away from the competitive scene had been made since the beginning of the year.
Apparently, the player would have left earlier had he not had a low 2023, forcing him to leave the stage with a better close point for his career.
“With just how much success my content creation has, it definitely was a no-brainer decision in regards to how much effort, how much work, [and] how much of your life gets taken up by being a competitive pro player. I definitely poured my heart and soul into this year and tried to be the best that I could.” TenZ explained.
TenZ is one of the successful players in the world after winning the VALORANT Masters Reykjavík 2021, the 2023 AfreecaTV VALORANT League, and the 2024 VALORANT Masters Madrid. He also one of the most followed VALORANT pros in the world.
He began as a duelist at Sentinels, where he started his career, although he struggled to find success in that role with the team in his first years. However, after shifting to the controller role, his impact on the team increased, which he alluded to alongside his star-studded teammates, appreciating that he was able to leave his mark within VALORANT history and be remembered for that.
Sentinels’ roster now has two potential holes for 2025 as the team will not be re-signing Sacy, leaving them with Zachary “zekken” Patrone, Jordan “Zellsis” Montemurro, and Amine “johnqt” Ouarid.
