Team Falcons managed to win on the final day of the season against Twisted Minds in the MENA League to seal a place at the BLAST R6 Major Montreal. The qualification means it will be the first international appearance that the green roster will be making since February 2024.
In fact, Team Falcons have only qualified for one tournament since joining Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege, which was the BLAST R6 Major Copenhagen.
The event in Denmark preceded a period of dominance of Falcons’s arch rivals Geekay Esports, who became controllers of MENA as they secured qualification for consecutive BLAST R6 Majors, Atlanta and Manchester, and the Esports World Cup.
Team Falcons then had to respond by making changes to the roster, which has now yielded results by qualifying for the international event. They brought in Italian player Robby and the Kuwaiti duo of Guardz and Dov2hkiin.
The additions improved the quality of play of Team Falcons, who quickly went into the lead after the first four playdays of the stage, after an overtime win against ROC Esports and a regulation victory against Geekay Esports.
Team Falcons, who are already considered one of the heavy favourites, showed their intentions with victories over two of the region’s favourites. Team Falcons have now kept open their chances of qualifying for the Six Invitational 2025 through the Global Standings.
The MENA roster’s qualification for Montreal’s second phase has given them an additional 20 points, leaving them in 18th place with 225 SI Points. While the results favored Falcons, they have affected Geekay Esports’ chances at the Global Standings.
Geekay Esports currently sits in 14th place with 235 SI Points, and they will need a major miracle to be able to qualify for the Six Invitational 2025 via the Global Standings route. Their BLAST R6 Major Atlanta quarterfinal finish has reduced their chances of qualifying.
