The World Championship stage will see a European League of Legends star, Rekkles, come back, but it won’t be in a familiar role that many expected. The 27-year-old is reported to be moving to T1 as a substitute for the Worlds 2024.
Should the move be made official, Rekkles would be making a seventh appearance at the competition. The iconic LEC superstar is returning to the organization after being with the organization’s Academy team in the Challengers League.
However, this time, his role in the team will be as an alternate for Keria as a sub-support player at Worlds 2024. Although he will bring depth to the squad at the competition, he would hardly be on stage or see stage time at the competition, but unless there are emergencies or sudden strategy changes, he will fly with the team.
Rekkles has gathered experiences from many organizations, having played at Karmine Corp and Fnatic since leaving G2 Esports in 2021 before teaming up with T1’s Academy team. There, he was featured alongside some of the other prospects, like mid-laner Poby and AD carry Smash.
The team’s Spring Split didn’t show impressive outings as they finished in ninth, although they still barely managed to reach the playoffs in the summer. Rekkles enjoyed the support of the fanbase of one of the most iconic organizations in League history.
Rekkles will have the opportunity to win the Summoner’s Cup if T1 is able to achieve the big target. The team only got into the Worlds after winning Korea’s last spot in the Regional Qualifiers. T1’s 2024 Summer Split regular season ended with a fourth-place finish after they lost to Hanwha Life Esports.
They started the first round of Regional Qualifiers with a loss to Dplus KIA. They then went on to secure the Worlds with a five-game series against KT Rolster.
