NRG’s return to Counter-Strike has not started well, as they have missed out on qualifying for the PGL Copenhagen Major RMR after they went 2-3 in the North American closed qualifier.

NRG only returned to Counter-Strike in November 2023, and this was their first major event since returning. They did begin the RMR on a good note, beating Badass 16-14.

However, the North American squad lost to Complexity and Nouns, while both teams eventually qualified for the RMR. They improved in their next game against LOS, but their deciding series against Rocket ended 0-2, ultimately ending their chances of going to Denmark for CS2’s first Major.

NRG was one of the favorites tipped to go through to the next stage from North America, and although they failed, Liquid, another favorite, was among the teams that made it through to the next stage.

Team Liquid is just one of the many other favorites who completed their tasks; others are M80, Nouns, and Complexity, all of whom made it to the offline qualifier successfully.

Meanwhile, the American RMR will happen in Monterrey, Mexico, from March 1 to 4, although the South American teams that will be participating are still unknown. The South American teams will be determined through a closed qualifier in the region, which will begin on January 19.

The next big tournament available for NRG to fix their mistakes will be the ESL Challengers League Season 47 North America. The event will run from February six until June, and eventual winners and runner-ups will qualify for the 20th season of the ESL Pro League.

The closed qualifiers for the CS2 are going on all around the world this week. The last open qualifier has started in Europe, while the closed qualifiers are set to begin on January 18.
