JD Gaming, on Sunday, defeated Bilibili Gaming in the upper bracket finals of the LPL Summer Split, which secured a ticket to the 2023 League of Legends World Championship.
By so doing, they are the first team to seal their ticket, and they did it in style after beating Bilibili for the second time in their third different meeting in 2023.
The two teams have managed to keep their rivalry between themselves in the LPL throughout the season and in two different grand finals in 2023. The first cane was during the LPL Spring Split and then in the MSI.
With the qualification, both teams will likely meet one more time in the summertime too. JDG showed dominance against Bilibili and asserted their status as the team to beat in the playoffs of the LPL.
This is a pointer that JDG will not be easy meat to other teams in the World Championship this year. The five players on the roster combined well in a performance that showed the team’steam’s synergy, which helped their team’steam’s success.
JDG are still one series away from the LPL title, but they will still have a clash with their rivals. Meanwhile, on Tuesday, August 1, Bilibili will clash with LNG ESports as they hope to reach the grand final again, where they will hope to beat the MSI winner.
The LPL Summer Split grand finals will take place on August 5.
