Virtus Pro Counter-Strike captain Dzhami “Jame” Ali has signed a new four-year extension with the organization, meaning that their in-game star leader and AWPer will be around for the long term.
The organization made the announcement on Thursday, with VP CEO Nikolai Petrossian praising the player as the backbone of the organization’s roster and an exceptional player.
The VP CEO Nikolai Petrosian, who became the head of the organization at the end of last, said this and more in the press release officially made by the organization while also adding that renewing the player’s contract was top of the agenda for the VP.
“There are very few captains with his understanding of the game, tactical thinking, and level of individual skill in the professional scene,” Petrossian said.
Meanwhile, Jame sees VP as a second home and said it was a very simple decision for him to extend his stay at the organization. With the launch of CS2 approaching, this could be the only major move that VP could be making. This is because the team’s current roster returned back into ESL Pro League via the ESL Challenger Katowice event with a win over ENCE.
Players under the banner of VP have been forced to play under a neutral flag in the wake of the Russian invasion of Ukraine due to the previous owner’s relationships to sanctioned Russian organizations and individuals.
Playing under the tag Outsiders, they managed an all-time achievement by winning the IEM Rio Major, an MVP performance by the now-re-signed Jame before the VP brand got reinstated in early 2023.
Jame’s reintroduction into the team will provide both valuable in-game shot-calling and AWPing proficiency. The 24-year-old’s experience would be vital as VP hopes to see more success when CS2 starts later this summer.
