Meanwhile, reports say Oxygen Esports has put the future of the Boston Breach CDL in question after they laid off all staff. Oxygen Esports is leaving esports entirely, the company is behind a lot of esports teams including the Call of Duty League’s Boston Breach.
Oxygen was established in 2020 and partnered with New England Patriots owner Robert Kraft’s company in 2021. It had teams in VALORANT, Rocket League, Rainbow Six, and ENascar, but the most prominent is Boston Breach, which was one of the 12 teams within Activision’s CoD League after they entered the CDL in 2022.
The players have been informed of that they will not be able to access the Helix facility and their apartments by Thursday, Aug. 8. The team was supposed to travel and compete in the Modern Warfare 3 tournament in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for the Esports World Cup.
Interestingly, the organization made three roster changes to the Boston CoD lineup which features Snoopy, Cammy, Owakening, and Purj. The organization finished last in the 2024 CDL season last month which forced the organization to make three roster changes.
