The playoff schedule of the LCK Summer Split have finally been released after eight weeks of play, and 90 regular season matches were played.
Now that the initial games have been wrapped up, in the playoff bracket, six teams will compete.
The winner will directly qualify for this year’s League of Legends World Championship as Korea’s number one seed.
This is good news for the LCK fans, who won’t have to wait long between the end of the regular season and the playoffs. This is because the postseason begins three days after the Summer Split wraps up.
Come Wednesday, 17th August, the first round of the playoffs will be played. It is expected that there will be actions from teams in best-of-five matches to determine who progresses and who goes home.
The schedule for this year’s LCK summer playoffs shows that Liiv SANDBOX will square up against DRX on 17th August, while DWG KIA will play against KT Rolster a day after.
Come Saturday, 20th August, Gen.G will play against TBD, while T1 will also play against TBD on Sunday, 21st August.
Because they both finished first and second this split, Gen.G and T1 earned byes directly into the second round of the playoffs.
Being on top in the Summer Split, Gen.G WIll have the option of selecting their opponent in the second round from the two teams that win their first-round matchups.
The semifinals have been scheduled for August 21, while the grand finals will be held a week later between the last two remaining teams.
It is now an opportunity for the teams that didn’t do well in the previous tournament to prove their mettle here.
Since eSports is full of surprises, it won’t be a surprise to see some shocking results.
But with the form of Gen.G, they have been rated to win the playoffs with the hope that their form will be consistent.
