It’s a dramatic last couple of days for the most wanted LEC free agent, Emil ‘Larssen’ Larsson, as he has reportedly reversed his decision and instead chose to stay on the exact same League of Legends team, Infinity Reality’s competition roster.

It’s a surprise decision, as it was reported for several weeks that he would be leaving the roster. This is in preparation for the 2024 season, with just four teams left at the League 2023 World Championship.

Thus, it is a period of changes and preparation for the 2024 season across every other league as well. Larssen was reported to be in discussion with a lot of rosters in the EMEA region who were interested in his services.

However, on Wednesday, Larssen ended the elongated search and chose to stay behind at Infinity Reality (formerly KOI). Interestingly, KOI’s League team didn’t have the best of champions in 2023 despite starting the year strongly and staying third in the LEC Winter playoffs.

However, that was the best it could get for them as everything went downhill quite quickly from there. They eventually ended in eighth place in the LEC Summer Groups and the Summer Season, sixth in Spring Groups, and seventh in the Spring and Winter Seasons, failing to qualify for the Worlds as G2, Fnatic, MAD Lions, and Team BDS made it to Worlds.

However, the stay of the star midlaner doesn’t assure that the rest of the team will stay, especially as KOI and Infinite Reality ended their association on November 3.

This is along with the fact that two of the former KOI roster’s starting team members, Geun-seon ‘Malrang’ Kim (jungler) and Hendrik ‘Advienne’ Reijenga (support), will see their contracts expire on November 20. There is no information confirming whether they will renew their respective contracts.

It’s going to be a big period for the team, who must make huge decisions for their brand and a starting roster for 2024.
