The Heroic organization, the owners of the Danish CS roster, has made a surprising decision by moving its captain to the bench barely weeks after the introduction of CS2.

Heroic announced on Wednesday that their captain, Casper “cadiaN” Møller will step away from the active roster and be on the bench, in a decision that they tagged as a mutual decision and one made due to differing visions for the future of the team.

It’s a surprise decision as CadiaN has been the captain of the Heroic roster since the end of 2019 and is also regarded as one of the game’s top players as both an in-game leader and a primary AWPer.

Heroic has been dominant over the last three years with him as the captain, and they rose to rival Astralis as the elite Danish team and also one of the best teams in CS.

Meanwhile, the player himself has taken the decision in good faith, revealing that although he had been waiting to see Heroic make some key changes as they go into CS2, even though some people wanted a different way.

According to CadiaN, the changes he wanted should elevate Heroic once again, just like when the changes that brought refrezh and sjuush were made. However, Acadian has said he is far from satisfied and has been trying out the CS2 a lot lately, hinting that he may possibly seek playing time elsewhere, including a possible move on the international level or move away from the IGL and AWPer combo he’s found success with.

Nevertheless, it’s possible from all indications that cadiaN won’t be on stage for IEM Sydney, the unofficial tier-one event that will serve as the debut of competitive CS2. However, with alot of time before the PGL Copenhagen Major, cadiaN can still sort things out to try and win the illustrious trophy that has eluded him in CS:GO.
