G2 eSport’s run in Counter-Strike 2 has taken another interesting turn as the team took a hugely controversial decision on Monday. The IEM Dallas winners from just a few weeks ago have benched one of the starters in the roster that went to claim the organization’s first CS2 trophy at the IEM Dallas.
Serbian player Nemanja “nexa” Isaković has been placed on G2’s inactive roster. Nexa is well known with the organization as he’s currently on his second stint with the team. His first stint was between 2019 and 2022 before returning to the club just last December.
The player made the decision of the club known on social media, where he posted that he had been moved to the bench at G2 while also appreciating G2 for the last six months.
“No more good vibes… jokes aside on the bench as of today in @G2esports. Thank you for the last 6 months; it was a pleasure to be here again. With that being said im still eager and ready to play the next season and am open to offers in any role. If interested, contact me,” Nemanja Isakovic posted on social media on Monday.
The team made their first CS2 breakthrough at IEM Dallas earlier this June as they won their first trophy in the new game, hugely inspired by the performances of the stand-in player, returning NA legend Jacky “Stewie2K” Yip.
It was one of the events that the organization played with the stand-in player, Stewie2K, instead of HooXi at Dallas, while at the BLAST Premier Spring Final over the weekend, coach TaZ stood in for AWP star m0NESY on day 1.
The news about the replacement for Nexa has been linked with Guatemalan breakout star Mario “malbsMd” Samayoa, who plays for North American team M80 Esports. Meanwhile, Both G2 and M80 will compete next at the Esports World Cup in July.
