G2 ESport’s dominating performance in the 2023 LEC Summer Split has been rewarded with recognition by sweeping the slots in the region’s All-Pro first team.
The G2 ESports League of Legends team was very powerful in the summer as they had been defeated just once in the regular season and recorded an unbeaten group stage before recording an easy path to the championship.
The entire All-Pro first team has samurai, with Sergen “BrokenBlade” Çelik, Rasmus “Caps” Winther, Steven “Hans Sama” Liv, Michael “Mikyx” Mehle, and rookie jungler Martin “Yike” Sundelin after they all topped their respective roles this split.
It is a pointer to the strength of G2’s roster, which has four Veteran stars who have, at some point in their careers, won All-Pro honors before, including a player who made his debut in 2023, Yike. It is then not surprising that G2 were destructive in their performance through the 2023 LEC Summer Split.
Meanwhile, the 22-year-old Yikes joined the roster when he replaced one of Europe’s greatest ever Jungler after a relatively down year from G2. The youngster handled the pressure well and blossomed in his role syncing well with his teammates in the squad.
Yikes played with champions like Maokai, Ivern, Sejuani, and even Rell, helping him activate his side lanes and secure the best angles to engage in team fights. Meanwhile, players like Hans Sama, Broken Blade, and Caps were consistent, which helped the rookie settle in.
G2 Esports’ next target is the season finals, where they must stay on top of their game as they fight for a spot at the 2023 World Championship. Team BDS will be their next in the first round of the tournament, and they go into the tournament as the ultimate favorites to win the competition. The 2023 LEC season finals begin on Saturday, Aug. 19.
