Legendary midlaner Faker is inching towards a milestone after his seventh pick last weekend in the LCK playoffs. Faker is nearing the feat of playing close to half of League of Legends’s official roster in pro play.
He did this in T1’s series against JT Rolster at the 2024 Summer LCK playoffs, locking in a seventh pick with a typically dominant ADC champion, Smolder. It is the first time he will be picking Smolder, and it was a good choice, as the player, alongside his T1 roster, won the series 3-1 to progress to the next stage.
There are more than 150 champions in the League of Legends, and Faker is just a few distinctive selections from playing more than half of the whole champion pool. Interestingly, he doesn’t have to win the games he plays; he only needs to pick and play the champion to extend his milestone.
LCK even recognized his feat with a post on social media platform X, identifying Faker’s game 4 Smolder pick as a debut for his 78th unique champion in the LCK. This is a testament to Faker’s elongated career, which has gone over a decade. However, there is also a small downside to Faker’s profile as a champion, as he seems to favor some select champions.
Faker may have played 78 champions, but his most frequently used pro champion is Azir, with whom he has played 180-plus total games with a 68 percent win rate on the champion. His second most played pro-champion is Orianna at 90-plus games and a 70 percent win rate, with Ryze coming in as third most used at 70-plus games and a 63 percent win rate.
It won’t be surprising if Faker locks in his 79th pick as new champions and a World Championship are on the horizon by September.
