South Korean esports heavyweights T1 has won a fifth consecutive League of Legends World Championship and retained the title they won last year after their win against China’s Bilibili Gaming on Saturday in London.

They probably wouldn’t have done it without the help of their key man Fake who made 500 kills at the Worlds, the first League player to do so. With such feat, he was a no brainer for the Finals MVP, the Finals also broke records for views with 6.9 million viewers watching the series.

The Chinese were strong from the start, winning game one less than 30 minutes in after breaking T1’s base after 18 minutes of play. T1 eventually struck to level the match, but match one was totally dominant from BLG as ELK utilised his sharp Ashe ultimates.

BLG looked ready to break the resilient T1, who has a perfect streak against LPL teams on the World Stage, but T1 bounced back in game four after their opponents took game three. Faker’s Atlas and Keria’s Renata plays were instrumental in the fifth game as the team completed the title defense.

Lee “Faker” Sang-Hyeok has now won five Worlds titles, the only player on that radar so far while T1 are doing the retaining for the second time.

Elsewhere, G2 has lifted the BLAST World Final after beating Team Spirit to bounce back from the Rio disappointment with an excellent showing in Singapore. G2’s international squad will now go into the upcoming CS2 Major RMRs well boosted.

The championship was the last BLAST event in the partnered era, and G2 prepared well for it after bringing in Snax for Hooxi in the IGL position. It showed with a flawless showing when they beat Team Vitality in the semis after initially beating Spirit for that spot.

Spirit bounced back after finishing runners-up in group B with wine over FaZe and Astralis.
