Excel ESports have made decisions to ensure that their last-place finish at the 2023 LEC Winter Split does not happen again by reshuffling their coaching position.

The team could only get a win all through that competition which called for a drastic decision to be taken before the start of the League of Legends season.

The coaching staff that will leave the team includes head coach Joey “YoungBuck” Steltenpool and assistant coach Sng “Nelson” Yi Wei.

Despite the announcement of their departures, the UK organization hasn’t announced their replacements.

Excel Esports had Odoamne, Vetheo, Patrik, Targamas, and Xerxe on their roster, which left many of their fans anticipating something huge from the team, but they didn’t contend for the championship as many fans and analysts expected.

However, when the split started, the individuals failed to gel as a team as they lacked coordination and cohesion, struggling through every single game despite the immense talents on the roster.

At the end of the winter Split, they had the most deaths, the third-worst average gold difference at 15 minutes of any team in the LEC.

While the team had the players with the lowest KDA (Odoamne) and the player with the most deaths (Patrik), Excel still ranked the least amount of wards of any of the LEC rosters.

The organization could still stick to the same roster going forward, and it looks like that’s what will happen with the limited time they had together before getting eliminated.

Getting a new coaching team and backroom staff may be the way to go for Excel, who will need all the best they can get to make a good comeback at the 2023 Spring Split.

In January, the organization made some shuffles in its hierarchy, with Tim Reichert promoted to CEO from the role of COO. Former CEO Wouter Sleijffers then became a strategic advisor to the board.
